Brown Bag Special

Last night when I visited the Hannibal Piecemakers Quilt Guild meeting, a lady stood up during Show & Tell and showed a table runner she had made from one of my patterns — that’s a good feeling, let me tell you!

The pattern she showed was from a program I designed called Brown Bag Special. If you’re looking for a program for your guild or quilt group to do, this is a good one, if I do say so myself. It’s a sort of round robin/mystery quilt project that gets passed among members of the group. You need a group of at least 3 people to do it, but there’s no upper limit on group size — you can have as many members as you want. You just need a good group organizer. Here’s Carla with her finished project. (And don’t worry that I’ve ruined the “mystery” with this picture — every project comes out different — that’s part of the fun!)Brown Bag Special

There have been several groups that have done this project. I tested it on my own guild, and we had 24 participants, and they had a great time doing it. In fact, it’s been so popular that some of the groups wanted to do another one, so I came out with Brown Bag Special II. It works the same way, just uses a different pattern.

So if you’re looking for a great fun group project, you should check it out. You purchase the program once, and you can use it as many times as you like. It comes with all the instructions for how to run the program, all the materials you’ll need to copy for your group, and everything you need to get it done easily and have fun while doing it.

  1. What a great idea. I’m not involved in a guild, but it sounds like it would be great fun.
